On Monday 11 May 2020 after 20 years in the making Karekare Surf Lifesaving Club began the rebuild project on their clubhouse.
We are pleased to announce Cassidy Construction has won the tender which is expected to take 18 months to rebuild and will be completed in November 2021.
Work has begun on building the access way which will be returned to sand at the completion of the build and demolition on the building.
The Club farewelled the past clubhouse after serving the community for 56 years on Saturday 13 June 2020 with a Poroporoaki which was attended by locals, members and representatives from Auckland Council, Board and local MP. Thank you to all those that attended and shared their special memories.
The future is exciting for the club and we pay respect to all those that have walked the shores of Karekare in the past. The lifeguards of the future are excited about the prospect of a wonderful new purpose built lifesaving facility that will serve the club and community for the next 100 years.
