Junior Surf

Our Junior Surf programme is a great opportunity to give your children an introduction to Lifesaving. Families come from right across Auckland, but many families have the west coast beaches on their back door step and they want their children to understand and respect the surf and learn basic water safety.

Junior Surf

Our Junior Surf programme is a great opportunity to give your children an introduction to Lifesaving. Families come from right across Auckland, but many families have the west coast beaches on their back door step and they want their children to understand and respect the surf and learn basic water safety.

Our programme is designed for children aged between 7-12, at the age of 13 your children move into the Rookies programme where they start their training to become a lifeguard. The Lifeguard exam can be sat once you have turned 14.

THE PROGRAM

We actively support parents to join in and be a part of their children’s experience, it’s a great way to start a Sunday morning in Summer. Our season starts in November and runs till the end of March with seven sessions in total throughout the summer. It’s a family friendly programme, with everyone only operating at their level of comfort in the ocean and giving you the skills to develop more confidence in a safe learning environment.

Lifeguards are on duty and in the water at all times during the sessions. Younger children can still attend, many enjoy just playing in the sand or having a casual dip with their caregiver. Families are encouraged to stay around at the end of the session and use the body boards and rescue boards in the surf, enjoy the beach and picnic. For further details on specific dates and costs please get in touch with our Administrator at [email protected]
